Hospice Care and Decision Making Consultation

As of May 2024, I am postponing hospice consultation care at this time. It has been an honor to be trusted to help guide families and pets through this time. I will have owners work with their primary care providers for care leading up to the time of when my end-of-life services are required.

This was a difficult decision, as I have always attempted to be available to owners during all stages of life, but my services at this time are best served at the final stage.

In-Home Euthanasia.

I will join you in your home to meet you and your pet. We will review the process of visit and euthanasia. We will administer a combination of pain relief medications that will facilitate your pet falling asleep to a level of anesthesia. After the animal is relaxed and comfortable, the last injection will be administered. We will then create personalized paw prints with your choice of ink and/or clay.

After Care.

Options are available to you for the remains or after-care of your pet. The most common option for aftercare includes cremation. You may choose to have your pet cremated with the private return of ashes or cremated without the return of ashes. When cremation is selected, I will personally facilitate the after-care of your pet. It is not uncommon that owners will ask about at-home burial given that is a common tradition in humans. You may choose this option however be sure to follow local municipal guidelines to be aware of regulations and restrictions. If you are not able to meet those guidelines, many owners will choose to do a private cremation and spread the ashes in your or your pet’s favorite place.
